Listing Creation + GTIN Issue | USA
22Issue A client faced issues while creating product listings on Amazon due to errors related to GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) validation, preventing the listings from going live.
Solutions
I identified the root cause of the issue as incorrect GTIN data and missing or invalid UPC codes for certain products, which prevented successful listing creation on Amazon Seller Central. These errors were causing compliance conflicts with Amazon’s cataloging and product identification requirements, leading to listing failures and delays in product activation.
To resolve this, I first conducted a detailed verification of all existing GTINs to ensure accuracy and legitimacy. I then acquired valid and Amazon-compliant UPC codes where they were missing, ensuring they were sourced properly and matched the corresponding product variations. After that, I carefully formatted all product identifiers according to Amazon’s listing guidelines, ensuring correct placement within product attributes and backend data fields.
I also cross-checked product details such as brand name, variation themes, and category mapping to ensure full consistency with the updated GTIN/UPC data. This step helped eliminate any mismatches that could trigger future listing errors or suppression issues.
Once all corrections were completed, I successfully created and submitted the listings without any further errors. The products were approved, properly indexed in Amazon’s catalog, and made fully available for sale. This resolution not only fixed the immediate GTIN/UPC issue but also ensured long-term listing stability, compliance with Amazon standards, and improved operational efficiency for future product uploads.
