Category Issue | USA
35Issue A client encountered a category issue on Amazon, where their product was incorrectly categorized, leading to reduced visibility and irrelevant search results.
Solutions
I identified the root cause of the issue as an incorrect Amazon category selection during the listing process, which limited the product’s visibility and reduced its relevance in search results. As a result, the listing struggled to reach the right target audience.
To resolve this, I first analyzed the product type, features, and intended use. Then, I conducted in-depth research on Amazon marketplace categories and browse nodes to determine the most accurate classification. In addition, I reviewed competitor listings to understand how similar products were categorized.
Next, I updated the listing by assigning it to the most appropriate Amazon product category and relevant subcategory. At the same time, I ensured that all associated attributes and fields aligned with the new category requirements. This step was essential for proper indexing and improved discoverability.
Furthermore, I optimized the listing content using high-volume, relevant keywords tailored to the selected category. I also refined key elements such as the title, bullet points, and backend search terms using Amazon SEO best practices to enhance both visibility and conversion potential.
As a result, the issue was successfully resolved, and the product became more accurately positioned within the marketplace. Consequently, the listing achieved improved search relevance, better indexing, and increased visibility, leading to higher traffic and stronger sales performance.
