Hazmat Issue | Germany
37Issue A client’s product listing was flagged for Hazmat (hazardous materials) review, causing delays in approval and preventing the product from being listed.
Solutions
I identified the root cause of the issue as incomplete or incorrect Hazmat documentation, which triggered delays in Amazon Hazmat review and prevented the product from being approved for sale. As a result, the listing remained inactive and could not be fulfilled through FBA.
To resolve this, I first analyzed the product’s composition, usage, and classification to determine whether it qualified as a hazardous material under Amazon’s policies. Then, I carefully reviewed the existing documentation to identify gaps and inaccuracies.
Next, I obtained the required Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and ensured it met Amazon’s compliance standards. In addition, I verified key details such as chemical composition, handling instructions, and transport regulations to avoid rejection. Where needed, I coordinated with the manufacturer or supplier to secure accurate and updated documents.
After that, I submitted the corrected and complete information through the Amazon Hazmat review system. At the same time, I ensured that all product attributes, including battery information and dangerous goods classification, were properly filled in Amazon Seller Central.
Furthermore, I optimized the listing to align with Amazon compliance guidelines and removed any misleading or restricted claims. This step helped streamline the approval process and reduce further delays.
As a result, the product successfully passed the Amazon Hazmat review, and the listing was approved for sale. Consequently, the client was able to proceed with FBA operations and resume sales without interruptions. In the long run, this also improved listing stability, compliance, and overall performance.
