ASIN Issue | Canada
46Issue A client encountered an ASIN issue on Amazon Canada, where their product listing was either mislinked to an incorrect ASIN or flagged for duplication, leading to confusion and sales disruption.
Solutions
I identified the root cause as incorrect ASIN mapping, duplicate catalog listings, and inconsistent product data synchronization within Amazon’s catalog system, which was leading to listing errors, reduced visibility, and disrupted sales performance.
To resolve this issue, I first conducted a comprehensive catalog audit to identify all conflicting ASINs, duplicate product entries, and mismatched product attributes such as title, brand, variation themes, and SKU relationships. After pinpointing the inconsistencies, I carefully delinked the incorrectly mapped ASINs and removed redundant duplicate listings to eliminate catalog fragmentation.
Next, I performed a data correction process, ensuring that product identifiers (ASIN, SKU, UPC/EAN where applicable), variation families, and backend attributes were fully aligned with Amazon’s catalog requirements. I then submitted a formal catalog update and reconciliation request via Amazon Seller Central, providing accurate product documentation and corrected listing data for verification.
Additionally, I implemented listing optimization improvements, including keyword-aligned product titles, structured backend search terms, and refined variation settings to ensure proper indexing and improved discoverability. I also cross-checked the listing against Amazon’s policy guidelines to ensure full compliance and prevent future duplication issues.
As a result, the product was successfully re-linked to the correct ASIN, duplicate entries were eliminated, and catalog integrity was fully restored. This led to improved listing accuracy, enhanced organic visibility, better indexing in Amazon search results, and stabilized sales performance, while also strengthening overall account health and reducing future listing conflicts.
