Listing Creation under Generic brand | USA
39Issue A client faced a listing uploading issue where their product was incorrectly categorized under a generic brand, preventing it from being properly listed and displayed on Amazon.
Solutions
I identified the root cause of the issue as a missing or incorrect brand field in the product listing, which prevented the product from being successfully uploaded and indexed on Amazon. As a result, the listing failed to meet Amazon brand requirements and remained inactive.
To resolve this, I first conducted a detailed review of the listing within Amazon Seller Central. During this step, I carefully checked the brand attribute, category requirements, and backend fields to identify inconsistencies. In addition, I verified whether the product required a registered brand or qualified under the Generic brand category.
Next, I corrected the issue by updating the brand name with accurate and compliant information. Where applicable, I selected "Generic" in accordance with Amazon’s guidelines. At the same time, I ensured that the brand field matched all related attributes, such as manufacturer details and product packaging information.
Furthermore, I reviewed the entire listing to ensure alignment with Amazon listing guidelines. I also optimized the content using relevant, high-ranking keywords, improving search indexing and overall visibility. In addition, I refined key elements such as the title, bullet points, and backend search terms using Amazon SEO best practices.
After implementing these updates, I successfully re-uploaded the product listing. Consequently, the issue was resolved, and the product went live without errors. As a result, the listing achieved improved visibility, accurate indexing, and better performance, helping the client attract more traffic and increase sales potential.
