UPC Issue | Uzbekistan
82Issue A client from Uzbekistan encountered a UPC (Universal Product Code) issue in the USA marketplace, where their product listings were either flagged or rejected due to incorrect or missing UPCs, preventing the listings from being published or updated.
Solutions
The primary catalyst for the listing failures was identified as the utilization of invalid or unregistered Universal Product Codes (UPCs), which triggered a conflict with Amazon's internal GS1 database verification system. Upon auditing the client’s inventory, I discovered that the product identifiers were either incorrectly entered during the initial upload or lacked the necessary registration with the global standards organization. This discrepancy led to listing suppressions and "8572" error codes, preventing the products from being indexed within the Amazon USA marketplace. To resolve this, I facilitated a complete synchronization of the brand's catalog with authorized GS1-certified GTINs, ensuring that each product's brand name and manufacturer details aligned perfectly with the GS1 registry.
Following the implementation of the validated product identifiers, I oversaw the manual and flat-file updates for the entire SKU library. This technical correction successfully bypassed Amazon’s automated validation filters, allowing for the immediate reinstatement of the listings. The resolution not only secured the buy-box eligibility for the products but also established a foundation for Brand Registry protection. By ensuring 100% compliance with Amazon’s Product ID requirements, I mitigated the risk of future catalog deactivation and improved the overall discoverability of the products within the highly competitive USA marketplace.
